The Orange Revolution
- - - - by Yoel.Ben-Avraham
Life is strange and ironic. The more desparate and radical the evil try to control the world around them, the more they end up creating by their own efforts those forces that will eventually be their own undoing!
If Arik Sharon had agreed to adopt the 'National Referendum' as a tool to achieve concensus over the "disengagement" from Gush Katif & the Northern Shomron, there is every chance that he would have received a public mandate. With all the power of the incumbent government, drafted media and other 'Left' political movements supporting him, he very well might have convinced a majority of Israel's citizens (Arab, Jewish and other) that it was in the country's best interest.
Instead, true to his life-long egomania, he "bulldozed" through every party, cabinent and palimentary obstacle, plunging the state and People of Israel into a year long process of torn loyalties and a destructive public debate.
The net result, beyond actually accomplishing the destruction of twenty four Jewish communities in the Land of Israel by 'Israeli' hands, was the catylization of at least one generation of idealistic Jewish youth into a life-long dedication to change the very system that made such a tragedy/crime [take your pick] possible.
In deference to the colour orange adopted as the campaign colour of the anti-disengagement, I've decided to call this movement to correct the fundamental flaws of the Israeli system the "Orange Revolution". I do not expect it to be a "bloody" revolution, nor do I expect it to be short and dramatic. What I do sincerely believe is that Israel's only long term hope to continue to exist as a Jewish and hopefully democratic state is for :
To this end I set up the collaberative blog "The Organge Revolution". If you would like to join please contact me, or if you see articles of interest please let me know about them!

I do not expect it to be a "bloody" revolution, nor do I expect it to be short and dramatic. What I do sincerely believe is that Israel's only long term hope to continue to exist as a Jewish and hopefully democratic state is for :
- a total reformation of the way elected officals are accountable to their electorate;
- the court system to reflect the mores and values of the people it judges;
- the agencies of law enforcement to both adhere by the law they purport to enforce and to realize their raison d'etre is to protect the citizens of the state not to protect the agencies of the state from it's citizens
With HaShem's help and guidance I hope to document the debate and growth of this movement until the State of Israel finally fulfills the hopes and aspirations that two thousand years of Jewish life. A state for the People of Israel in the Land of Israel based upon the values and traditions of the Jewish People for milleniums.
