The Quiet before the Storm

(The closing paragraphs of an article I wrote "in the heat of the moment"). I hope it meets with your approval. YBA
Next Monday every Jew to whom the millennium old aspirations of the Jewish People to return to the Land of Israel mean something more than 'lip-service' or some historical novelty, are called to express their belief with their feet. This is one of the most basic and powerful forms of "democracy", as ancient as the Torah itself. Faced with a people divided between foreign beliefs and the belief in HaShem and his Torah, Moshe himself felt the need to call the people to "take their stand": "Mi lehashem elai!" ("He who is for G-d, come to me!") And those who still remained true to the spiritual values and the belief in the G-d of Abraham, Yitzchak and Yakov who promised His people an inheritance in this land rose up on their feet and walked to the corner of the encampment where Moshe stood.
Next week every Jew in Israel has the opportunity to "vote with their feet" and express their conviction that the beliefs that have held this people together for over three millennium are as valid and vibrant and real as ever.
Where are you going to be?
