(IsraelNN.com) Israel Police officials announce “moderate force” will be used to prevent the expected tens of thousands of disengagement opponents from reaching Sderot and Ofakim on Tuesday, the day set by Yesha Council leaders to renew efforts towards reaching Gush Katif ahead of the expulsion.
Police officials are indicating they intend to authorize the use of teargas and batons against disengagement opponents as deemed necessary to prevent the illegal congregation.
Police Chief Moshe Karadi announced last week that any anti-disengagement event that includes calls to enter Gush Katif will be declared illegal, telling Yesha officials that a protest would be deemed acceptable but since they have set the goal of Tuesday’s march to enter Gush Katif, the event will not receive a permit and therefore their actions are illegal.
