AP-LONDON — Organizers of the Cambridge Film Festival said yesterday they decided not to screen the film "Paradise Now", a prize-winning film about two suicide bombers, out of deference to victims of the London bombings.
"Paradise Now", directed by Hany Abu-Assad, tells the story of two Palestinian men recruited as suicide bombers who are intercepted at the Israeli border and have their attack uncovered. It was voted best European film at the Berlin Film Festival in February.
In a statement, the Cambridge Film Festival said the decision was made after consulting with local authorities and police, and in response to "the recent tragic events and the sensitivities involved." Organizers said tickets for the screenings yesterday and today would be refunded and another film shown instead.
Yes ladies and gentlemen, this is for real. The best European film of the year glorifies suicide bombers.
The film was not dropped because it's completely insane, violates all Western society morals and ethics, or because it encourages activity which destroy's societies and lives, but because some people (those would be the ones that had their famlies and lives destroyed by evil) might be a little sensitive.
Am I the only one that sees a problem with this?
