This is Shlomo Wollins reporting live from the Gaza Strip at 3:33am early on July 14th...Despite the military closure at the main junctions into Gush Katif, well-known activist & radio show host Avi Hyman and Nachum Boudilovsky have successful travelled from Tel Aviv to Neve Dekalim. The method was a train from Tel Aviv to Kiryat Gat, a hitchhike to Tzomet Plugot, a hitchhike to Ashkelon, and then a final hitchhike through Kissufim crossing with a resident of Gush Katif returning home.
At the crossing, the driver showed his drivers’ license with a Gush Katif proof of residence and was able to transport Avi & Nachum directly into the heart of Gush Katif. Having received countless calls today on my mobile phone as to the possibility of “penetrating” the military closure of Gush Katif, we now see that it is possible. It is logical to conclude that penetrating the Kissufim crossing will become significantly harder over the next few days leading up to the march on the 18th...
Sharon's entire future rests upon this disengagement folly and he is clearly willing to lead the country to civil war to complete his ambitions. It has boiled down to this: if only 20,000 march on July 18th it will mean the end of Gush Katif; if 50,000 march then the future is uncertain; and if 100,000 march then it will signal the tactical impossibility of disengagement and result in the immediate and complete collapse of Sharon political future.
