(IsraelNN.com) Police Commissioner Moshe Karadi today sentenced Negev Police Commander Brig. Gen. Niso Shaham for his recorded "behavior unbecoming a police officer" during the protest at Kfar Maimon last week. Shaham will have a severe reprimand recorded in his file, as well as having six days worth of pay docked from his salary.
Shaham was recorded on Channel Ten last Thursday night as cursing the protestors at Kfar Maimon, telling Border Guard officers to use a lot of violence, to beat them with clubs in the "lower part of their bodies" and saying, "let them burn." He also said that he wants "lots of arrests," and used various vulgarities in referring to how he wanted the protestors treated.
In the wake of his recorded remarks, several politicians from the Left and Right demanded that Commissioner Karadi remove Shaham from the police force entirely. In practice, the offending officer was relieved of duties related to the Disengagement Plan
