(IsraelNN.com) Right-wing activist Itamar Ben Gvir, on his way to attend Sunday's funerals for those murdered on Friday by Arab terrorists, returned to Gush Katif when he heard that the IDF and police had begun destroying empty structures near the Shirat HaYam beach front community.
The government feared that hundreds of supporters of Gush Katif would move into the empty structures, located near the community of Shirat HaYam, in the Arab populated Mouassi.
"If they intend to prevent our entry to abandoned homes then they are going to have to destroy over 1,000 buildings such as these throughout the Mouassi and across Gush Katif," Ben-Gvir told reporters."

(IsraelNN.com) Chairman of the Religious Zionist Renewal Party Effie Eitam responded to the destruction of structures near the Gush Katif community of Shirat HaYam today by attacking Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.
"The demolition machine and tools of corruption of Sharon have been activated and they need to serve as a warning sign and wake-up call for the faithful of the Land of Israel that on the day the order [to close off Gush Katif] is given hundreds of thousands of citizens will leave their homes, take leave from work and march together with their families toward Gush Katif and northern Samaria," said Eitam, "with the aim of thwarting the implementation of the Disengagement Plan, which was conceived in an anti-democratic and corrupt manner.""

(IsraelNN.com) The IDF combat engineer who refused orders to destroy structures near the beach side community of Shirat HaYam Sunday refused to stand trial before Brigade Commander of Northern Gaza Col. Avi Levi Sunday evening.
The soldier has exercised his right to request a trial before a military court rather than a commanding officer.
The soldier had his weapon taken away and was taken into custody when he yelled "A Jew does not expel a Jew" and refused to take part in the demolition, which aimed to prevent residents of Gush Katif from establishing an additional outpost."
