"No fewer than 20 people were hurt yesterday in what some see as the first step of the implementation of the Gush Katif withdrawal/expulsion."
"At one point," Huberman wrote, "a large group of youths managed to lie down in front of one of the bulldozers, and when it stopped, others climbed atop it... Youths behind it, in front of it and on top of it. After a few minutes, the police and soldiers started evacuating, using great force. They climbed on the bulldozer and started dragging the youths down with force, with an exchange of punches, pushes and curses... The youths were crying out, 'Refuse orders! This is not your job! You are soldiers, you should be protecting us, not evacuating us!' The force used by the soldiers was so great, and sometimes so brutal and unreasonable, that some of the youths were hurt and required medical care. One youth suffered a strong blow to his shoulder, several of them fainted, and stretchers gradually began to arrive on the scene, evacuating them for medical treatment."
"At one point during yesterday's confrontation, four soldiers stormed towards one youth on the bulldozer, dragged him away, held him by his limbs, ran towards a jeep and threw him in. The jeep then took off in a mad dash towards an unknown location. Somewhere else on the scene, a female officer started pounding on the head of one of the youths, while he responded in kind. He, too, was arrested."

(IsraelNN.com) A new outpost, Tal Yam (Dew of the Sea), was set up last night on the Gaza beach near Neveh Dekalim in Gush Katif.
The outpost was established on the ruins of 11 beachfront cottages that were destroyed yesterday by the IDF, in an operation designed to prevent Jews from moving into the homes.
Residents hoisted an Israeli flag onto the rubble and began rebuilding the cottages, which had been set up in 1967.
One soldier, Avi Biber, 19, refused to carry out the demolition order, explaining that he and his family did not move to Israel from the United States in order to expel Jews from their homes.
Arik Yitzhaki, leader of a group which settles Jews in Gush Katif said, “Tonight we have shown that the IDF cannot expel Jewish residents from their land. We can bring in hundreds of citizens in order to continue building the land of Israel.”"

After and army D9 bulldozer was ordered into the area yesterday to destroy the abandoned homes, to ensure they would not be used to host Jews seeking to fortify the area, residents vowed to rebuild, and continue building, in defiance of government plans to expel area Jews from their homes and communities."

IsraelNN.com) According to Datiah Yitzchaki, the chairperson of the Kela Authority for absorption in Gaza Jewish communities, Avi Biber was not alone when he vocally and decisively refused orders to demolish buildings, and evict the Jews who came to protect them, near Shirat Hayam yesterday. Others took up more passive resistance.
Yitzchaki told Arutz-7 Radio today, "We know of other soldiers who demonstratively stood off to the side, some with tears in their eyes. Despite the pain in seeing houses demolished, we also saw positive signs yesterday.""

(IsraelNN.com) Gaza residents vow they will not be deterred and following the IDF’s destroying 11 homes near Shirat HaYam on Sunday, they will construct two for every one destroyed.
The first such outpost to be erected was Tal Yam, in memory of area terror victim Tali Hatual, who was murdered by Arab terrorists along with her small children as she drove in the area."
"As violent scuffles ensued, Avi, who according to his father did not plan on publicly refusing orders, felt compelled to cry out against the beating of the protesters, young and old alike. “Soldiers do not beat Jews! A Jew does not expel a Jew!” Bieber cried out. He was immediately relieved of his weapon and taken into custody, as friends from his unit looked on.
Many of his fellow soldiers of 15 months, it turns out, do not disagree with him. Twelve of the soldiers from Avi’s unit informed their brigade commander last night that they refuse to take part in any future actions having to do with the Disengagement Plan. They received a reprimand on their permanent records.
Some of the soldiers were also not pleased with the way they say they were deceived into taking part in the expulsion. "If we had been informed that we were being taken to a mission of this sort, we would have refused along with Avi," some of the soldiers told Yediot Acharonot.
"We were always told that [our] weapons ... are against Arabs. How can you do such thing against Jews?” one soldier said"
