Central Publication of All Disengagement Related Articles
Jerusalem, Israel May 1st, 2005/ePublicist.ca/
As the divisive debate over the Sharon government’s “Disengagement” initiative rages on, one group of Internet site owners have decided to play “honest brokers” and encourage meaningful debate between all sides to the dispute. To this end they created the “Disengagement.org” site, a single central location for all parties to publish their position, permitting the discriminating reader the opportunity to hear every opinion and argument. An associated Blog Ring both encourages participation in the debate, and seeks out pertinent material for publication.

Initiated by Joseph Alexander Norland, the editor of Israpundit.com a pro-Israel eZine, Joseph invited the various interested web site and blog editors to join a common information initiative to expose the falliciousness of the “Disengagement” initiative. Yoel Ben-Avraham of ePublicist.ca of Toronto Canada, realized such a site would end up “preaching to the choir” and that the best way to expose people of all “persuations” on the issue to open up and explore other view points was to invite everyone to contribute.
Currently the organized team of contributors now includes over fifty web site and blog editors from around the world. As these individuals encounter pertrinent articles, they contact the authors and invite them to submit the article that best represents their position on the issue. In addition they have systematically approached key individuals in Israeli politics and invited them to share their reasons for supporting or opposing the governments “Dissengagement” initiative.
The editorial policy of the site is simple and egalitatarian: every opinion should be represented and everyone with an opinion should have the opportunity to express it. The one constraint placed upon submissions, in the interests of fairness and efficiency, is a limit of one submission per author on each of the topics the site has set out to explore.
Although visitors to the site are unlikely to change their position on the issue, it is the organizer’s hope that through the free exchange of opinions in a venue based upon mutual respect, all parties to the dispute might gain a greater awareness and understanding of the other side’s position.
