A "kinder, gentler" disengagement

The Jpost reports that Sharon wants disengagement with a smile.
A day after meeting Gaza settlement representatives for the first time in months, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon convened a high-level government meeting on disengagement in his office Wednesday and pushed a kinder, gentler evacuation.
Sharon reportedly opened up the discussion by saying there was a need to respect the Gush Katif settlers and allow them an honorable departure from the area.
"There is a need to enable normal life to continue until the moment of evacuation from their homes," Sharon was quoted as saying. "We must have patience. Arrests need to be the last resort, and done only if there is no other choice. It also must be made clear to the Palestinians that if there will be a terror attack, we will respond in a very harsh manner."
In addition, Sharon and Defense Minister Mofaz decided that IDF soldiers in their regular army service will have to take part in the evacuation of settlements.
How can you expect "an honorable departure" when the residents of Gush Katif are being betrayed by their own government? Sharon is giving land that Israel won - in a war in which it was NOT the aggressor - and giving it to an entity that calls for the death of all Jews.
