Facts about the "disengagement"
- - - - by Joel
People reading--and even many writing--about the disengagement are often ignorant of its provenance, its details, and its effects. Let's compile a list of facts. Here's a seed:
* "Disengagement" is a unilateral move on the part of PM Sharon. It was not requested or demanded by the "Palestinians" or anyone else.
* The "Palestinians" have not made any commitment to do anything whatsoever in response to the "disengagement."
* Some of the settlements to be uprooted have been there for 30 years; people have been born, grown up, married, and given birth to children there. These are not collections of tents or trailers that showed up a few months ago!
* There is no record of Arabs ever having made a peace concession in exchange for a Jewish sacrifice.
* The Palestinian National Covenant STILL calls for the destruction of Israel.
